Winter Foraging Workshop Sat 2nd March 2024
Join local foraging expert John Rensten for a special Winter Foraging afternoon at Careys Secret Garden.
This course will last between three and four hours, during which time you will learn how to safely and sustainably forage for common wild plants that grow abundantly, all around the country. The focus of this morning will be on learning to tap birch trees for their sap and learning to dig various tasty wild plant roots such as Burdock, Wood Avens, Dandelion and Horseradish. Other topics we will touch on during the day will include the edible and historical uses of any plants and mushrooms we encounter, cooking and preserving, plant ID and some simple botany and mycology.
Please dress for the weather and bring stout footwear.
Detailed directions to the Secret Garden will be sent with your booking confirmation email.
We look forward to welcoming you.
