Careys Secret Garden
Join us for a fascinating morning's foraging, exploring the edible delights of East Dorset in the Springtime.
This three-hour walk will be led by John Rensten, Dorset resident, lifetime forager, and author of The Edible City - A Year of Wild Food. As well as identifying numerous plants and discussing their edible and medicinal uses, we will be safely picking and sampling some of the leaves, shoots, and flowers we come across. There will be a few tasters as we go along, made from different foraged wild ingredients previously picked, cooked, fermented, etc, and discussion touching on numerous topics including nutrition, medicine, herbalism, botany, cookery, ethnobotany, and history.
Please be advised before booking, some of our foraging forays may not be suitable for people with mobility difficulties so if in any doubt please email us in advance. In addition, please be aware that although these events run for approximately 3 hours, that could easily turn out to be 4 hours instead, so please give yourself plenty of leeway.
