Christmas Needle Felting Workshop 20th December 2024

Come and spend some mindful ‘me time’ escaping the rush of planning for Christmas at a needlefelting workshop at Carey’s Secret Garden on the 20th December 2024. You will be guided to make your very own star of the popular ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’ poem - a cute little mouse (move over elf on the shelf!).

This 4 hour workshop will give you an introduction to Needle Felting (or Dry Felting), which is easy to learn and surprisingly quick to complete projects. You will learn how wool from different sheep breeds can be used to make shapes, provide colour and give texture, all from using thin barbed needles and your imagination.

Your session will start at 3pm where we will meet each other and you can watch an overview of how the mouse will be made. You will then be able to follow straightforward instructions at each stage to complete your own mouse.

 

Once finished, you may wish to make some accessories for your mouse, maybe a Santa hat, some cheese, or presents, or you may wish to use your new skills to make a Christmas Penguin, Angel or Reindeer Decoration?

All materials are provided for you to learn this amazing process. All abilities are welcome to join us and assistance will be given along the way. We would remind you that you will be using sharp barbed needles during the workshop and the some of the coarser wool will likely still have some pieces of straw-like detritus within it & does smell slightly ‘sheepy’ still.

Your ticket includes an artisan sharing cheese board with delicious accompaniments and a mulled wine/mulled cider/hot chocolate after the workshop. 

Additional Information:

The Needle Felting Workshop will start promptly at 3pm and run until 7pm (please bring a torch). The gardens will be open from 2.30pm. The workshop will take place in the Workroom at Careys is heated. Our team will show you where to go when you get here.  This workshop requires a min of 6 to run, we will contact you if the min. quantity hasn't been achieved.  Sorry, no dogs are allowed on site except Assistance/Service Dogs.  There is a gender-neutral accessible waterless eco loo on site.
