Careys Secret Garden
If you’ve already been to the first instalment of our beginners’ writing workshop, you might be ready for more. In this two hour session, we’ll dive into voice and style, helping you add flair to your writing. You’ll be in a safe and supportive environment, with no pressure to share your work or read out loud.
This session is most suited to those who have attended the first part of our beginners’ writing workshop series (where we explore inspiration and structure), but all are welcome nonetheless.
Get inspired by the beautiful backdrop of Carey’s Secret Garden and enjoy the tranquillity in nature itself, then leave with some tricks up your sleeve for keeping your writing flowing.
This workshop is led by Dorset-based writer Katie Dancey-Downs, who writes everything from narrative non-fiction to short stories. Katie is assistant editor at Index On Censorship magazine and has written features for publications including Huffpost, i News, and Resurgence Magazine, as well as penning creative projects for the likes of Lush, Ordnance Survey, and the Co-op Foundation. She’s got a particular interest in the environment, nature, and human stories, and has travelled the world to tell tales of people and the planet. Katie has a Master’s degree in Journalism and was a finalist for The New Media Writing Prize, a runner up for The Fresher's Writing Prize, and long-listed for the Freelance Writing Awards.
