Bee Keeping Experiences at Careys Secret Garden
Join Mike our wonderful Bee Keeper for an introductory workshop into the world of bees and beekeeping!
In this two-hour session you'll learn the basics of beekeeping, the importance of pollination and the different roles bees play throughout their life cycle and more.
Following a short theory session, it will then 'bee' time to get suited and booted for the opportunity to get up close to the bees as we open up the hives and see first-hand the busy bees at work, and if we're lucky we may spot the elusive queen.
Afterwards, we will head back to the barn/workroom to hopefully sample some of the bee's delicious produce from a frame of honey, still warm from the hives we've just inspected.
Before or at the end of the workshop you are welcome to explore the beautiful walled garden at Careys. You can sit and enjoy the birds singing, bees buzzing and smell the fragrant flowers.
All attendees will need to sign a liability waiver on arrival. Sturdy footwear (ideally wellies) and comfortable clothes are recommended, a peaked hat will prevent the bee veil from touching the face and rubber gloves may be preferred to protect the hands.
Your ticket includes admission to Careys Secret Garden on the day of the workshop, and free access to the Berlin Wall Exhibit.
We strongly advise you to read through our Terms and Conditions, and Accessibility Guide prior to booking which can be found on the home page.
